New York City, Autumn 2011

I’ve been to NYC many times but never during the autumn season, where the weather is much cooler and the leaves start to turn colors.  I love NYC, and there is something about the city that makes me come back again and again.  There are things in NYC that only happen in NYC, and they are the typical everyday life in this city.  NYC is urban, street-life, and people are everywhere.  The city is 24/7, anytime there are people and there are things to do.  The city never goes sleep.  The people live here and the people visit here can be hectic and crazy yet everyone is civilized; it’s the normal for this city.  Not everyone loves NYC, but I think everyone should at least visit NYC one time in their life, to experience what the city has to offer, to see trash everywhere, and to encounter things and people that only in NYC has.

Except for a couple hours in Chinatown and spending night in Time Square, I spent most of my time in the neighborhoods that tourists often don’t visit or know about.  I saw parents taking their kids to school, kids are playing around on the street, and the people live their normal life.  There were no tourists, no outsiders, just normal people live in their neighborhood.  I saw the authentic and the genuine of New Yorkers.  It was not the glamour life or anything; it was just ordinary people live their life, do their things as with any other cities.  And I liked it a lot, I got to see the real NYC.

I spent most of my time walking around Chelsea, Greenwich Village, Soho, Chinatown, Little Italy, Time Square and the Garment District.  Each area or neighborhood has uniqueness and distinctive to them, and I loved each of them in a different and unique way.  It’s hard to describe into words but NYC is like a mixing bowl of salads, everyone and everything can be found in the neighborhoods of the city.  It’s like the world within NYC, or NYC represents the world.

Few pictures of NYC; pictures can’t do justice to the city.
